DTCii Trading Interface FAQ

Can you explain licensing and costs for Simulator versus Trader versions?

The DTCii Simulaor doesn't have a license. Its free to use from us. However, ATC Brokers does charge $25 per month after your free trial period to maintain your demo account that is used on DTCii Simulaor.
The DTCii Trader does have a license, which is $19.95 per month following the 30 days free trial period. ATC Brokers does not charge for this real money account; they get commissions from your trades.

The manual for DTCii3 says I need 2 GB of ram to run the program. I only have 1 GB. How firm is this requirement?

With Windows XP Service Pack 3, which everyone that does Windows updates is now using, 2 GB of RAM is strongly recommended, and we routinely use 3 GB of RAM with Windows XP SP 3.
Personally, I'd take the computer to a local shop and have them increase the RAM to 3 or 4 GB.
The most RAM that XP can use is 3.25 GB, but some motherboards are limited to either 2 or 4 GB, so on those motherboards, we use 4 GB of which only 3.25 will actually be used.
You can send Microsoft a nice letter thanking them for making Windows even more bloated.
PS: If you were using Windows Vista, the operating system itself uses about 1 GB to run, with no software running. So it's even worse.

Do I have to uninstall my existing DTCii Simulator before updating to the latest version?

If you have 3.4.3490 simulator installed, then you can install the new one over the old one. However if you have an earlier version of the simulator installed, you'll have to uninstall it before installing version 3.4.3502. If you are on version 3.4.3490 or later, you will no longer have to uninstall before installing the new update.

How are version update releases handled?

We will notify DTCii users via the DTCii Mailing List of version releases. The Simulator is always released first. The Trader version is usually released approximately one week later.

I'm unable to install the latest simulator. Installation package will not open.

The standard procedure when software won't install is to start over:
Delete the distribution file.
Download it again.
Uninstall the old program if it's earlier than 3.4.3490.
Run the installation.

Help, I'm not getting any data on the DTCii Simulator.

It is likely that ATC Brokers' Demo Server is down. This means that your price data will not load. You may also have trouble connecting. Please call ATC Brokers at 877-654-8400 or 818-545-8400 for updates on this matter.

How do I set up a subscription?

In DTCii, click Help, About
Highlight and copy (CTRL+C) the license key
Go to the DTCii web page and paste your license key into the field
Click the "Buy Now" button
Follow the prompts to setup the subscription through PayPal.
Your subscription will start that day, and renew monthly. It will automatically update the expiration date for your DTCii.

I have more than one computer, can I use the same license on both?

Unfortunately, no. The license is registered to that computer only. So, you will need to subscribe for each computer. But, if you stop using one computer and switch to another, be sure to cancel your subscription on the old computer and set up a subscription for the new computer. If you have any questions or need any help on this, call us and we'll be happy to help.

If you have additional questions that weren't answered here, please read the manual.  Every question we've been asked is addressed in the manual.
